Return to school Update

19th Aug 2021

Dear Parents,

I am aware that you have many queries regarding your child’s return to school in September and are anxious to make plans with your employers and child minders. Principals and school leaders have been anxiously waiting for guidance from Department of Education outlining how schools will operate from September onwards. We have been unable to make any decisions regarding return to school arrangements until we have received this documentation from DE. This information was sent out to school leaders last night (Wed 18th Aug) at approximately 5pm. Principals are now in a position to meet with one another and school leaders to make decisions about how schools will operate within the DE guidelines from September. I will be engaged in meetings throughout Mon 23rd August to draw up plans for the best way forward for St Patrick’s PS. I hope to be able to post information on our school website that will hopefully answer your queries by Tuesday 24th August. I can confirm now that P2-P7 children will start school on Wed 1st September. Starting and finishing times have still to be confirmed. Our new P1 children will be starting school on a phased basis from Wed 1st September. They will be informed of their exact starting day by Tuesday 24th August. Decisions regarding what children will be required to bring to school eg. school bags, pencil cases etc. will be communicated as soon as possible next week. The school will be open next week for anyone who needs to purchase a school tie or has any other queries. I hope that this information helps at this stage and I will look forward to seeing all of the children on their return back to school.

Mr Eamonn Devlin
