Maths in Primary 4

Dear Parents,

Please find a list of the areas in Maths your child will cover in Primary 4:

  • Exploration of numbers 1-20, 50, 100 and 999
    • Number Identification 
    • Number before/after/inbetween
    • More/Less
    • Odd/Even
    • Order numbers in Increasing and Decreasing order
    • Identify the number sequence and the missing numbers
    • Number doubles (3+3, 12+12...)
    • Near doubles (3+4, 8+9...)

    • Number Stories 1-20 (the facts to add and subtract to make each number)
    • Addition and Subtraction patterns (9+1=10, 1+9=10, 10-1=9, 10-9=1)
    • Counting forward to find the difference (23 + _= 31)
    • Patterns in addition (4+3=7 so 14+3=17 and 54+3=57)
    • Patterns in subtraction (9-5=4 so 19-5=14 and 79-5=74)

  • Addition and Subtraction within 999
    • Place Value (adding hundreds tens and units)

    • Subtraction using Decomposition

    • Time - Identify analogue and digital times (o'clock, half past, quarter past and to and all five minute interval times)
    • Time problems
    • Sequencing days of week and months of the year
    • Number of days in each month
    • Measuring length and height in metres and centimetres
    • Measuring weight in grams and kilograms
    • Measuring capacity in millilitres and litres
    • Measuring area and perimeter
  • Data Handling
    • Conduct a Survey
