Maths in Primary 2

Dear Parents,

Please find a list of the areas in Maths your child will cover in Primary 2:

• Exploration of numbers 1-20, 50 and 100 
  • Number before/after/inbetween
  • More/Less
  • Odd/Even
  • Number Stories 1-10 (10 is the same as 9+1, 8+2, 7+3...)
  • What must be added to a number to make 10 (6+_=10)
  • What must be subtracted from a number to make 10 (17-  _=10)
  • Teen numbers (11=10+1, 12=10+2......)
  • Number doubles to 10+10
  • Count forwards and backwards in 2's, 5's and 10's
• Addition and Subtraction within 20, 50 and 100
  • Horizontal Sums (13+6=, 29+5=, 18-4=, 42-9=)...Using number line and 100 square
  • Recognise the relationship between addition and subtraction (13+4 =17 so 17-4=13) 
• Money
  • Identify coins 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p and 20p
  • Count and make amounts within 20p, 50p and £1.00
  • Add amounts within 20p, 50p and £1.00 to find total cost
  • Change from 2op, 50p and £1.00
